Union Christian Academy in Fort Smith Arkansas has Defibtech. We have two,
one at the elementary and one at the high school. We just bought them at the
beginning of the year through Heartsafe. They are a local company started
by a local doctor and one of the paramedics from the hospital. They take
care of the prescription that is required and take care of the whole
machine. If we use the pads, they will come and replace them. There is a
chip inside the machine that allows it to be downloaded or recalibrated when
needed. They are local and will come to the site to see our AED. This is
also the machine that is saturating Ft. Smith. Some of the public schools,
area churches and city offices have all been purchasing the same one. Our
machine will not have to be shipped off if we use it or if there are changes
and it has to be recalibrated. It should not ever have to leave the
building. They will come to us. Hope this info helps.

Please let me know what type of AED's your district has purchased. Our
local ambulance service is recommending the Phillips Heartstart FRX AED
#861304. However, our superintendent wants more input from physicians,
schools, etc.

The Heber Springs School District has the Zoll AED. Our local ambulance
service also has the Zoll AED. When we were trying to decide which AED
to puchase, one major consideration was the brand that the local
ambulance service used, because in the event that the school has to use
the AED, the ambulance will always be called & then you will not have to
change pads that will fit a different AED. Rhonda Guillotte

We have Defibtech brands. We bought the AED's and the alarm cases that
stores them for all our schools and field house. They are a good brand for
not so high a price.

Fayetteville got the Phillips Heart Start for all of our buildings
primarily because some of the other AED's were being recalled and the
price of the Phillips was good.

One of the most important factors in choosing your AED should be
compatibility with the local emergency response team. It saves time when
they respond to an emergency at your school and don't have to change
pads.
