[School-nurse] classification

Certified or classified we all working in the same field. Certified salary schedules are for those with a four year degree or greater. You have other employees with two year degrees (such as book keepers, para professionals, Associate RN's) or vocational licenses like myself on classified schedules. We need to push for a minimum pay scale from the state. Teachers in the state have a minimum salary as mandated by the State Board of Education. Some districts pay above and some stay at the state minimum.. We need a minimum salary for all LPN's, 2 year RN's and BSN's. Other than salaries being classified or certified should not matter.

Katherine Guidry, LPN
Ashdown Public Schools
23 years in the school setting

>Good point Jannette. I am an LPTN and have a license to practice nursing ( since 1979), therefore I should be under a different classification than non-certified employees. The schools must have a nurse just like they must have teachers, regardless of years the nurse went to nursing school.
